Stay tuned next week for #LIBR509 memes! The students came through for me yet again and I am rich with incredibly specific jokes about information organization and my course.

Got the notice that Spread Me is ready for me to pick up at @crossandcrowsbooks.bsky.social and that's my weekend plans all set

Verified now that this is only in Libby. The public library's catalogue records are not affected.

Through different cohorts of #LIBR509 I've tried different translations and rubrics to help calibrate students to the graduate letter grading scale, and then Jessie presents this devastating counterpoint:

While self-assessment is certainly useful in getting #LIBR509 students to motivate themselves to make the most out of the class, there's also the guilt effect to account for.

I swear I have principled reasons to use self-assessment as the primary grading scheme of the class and yet Danica's meme is accurate to the reaction this idea consistently inspires among #LIBR509 students

As part of their portfolios, #LIBR509 students will use a rubric created by the cohort to estimate the letter grade they earned in class. Finn's figured out how to make that sound classy!

All term, #LIBR509 students like Jacy have been revising first drafts and prototypes into their portfolio while other students *may* have waited until this week.

Today's the day that's been looming over Raven since the last day of #LIBR509!

Over many of these challenging tasks, #LIBR509 students formed strong bonds with their peers, and may feel a little unmoored when they can't work with their favourite team!

Collaboration didn't just happen through peer review. #LIBR509 students also worked hard to come to consensus on design problems in information organization--sometimes much faster than I expected!
December 10, 2024 at 12:52 AM
The #LIBR509 students who pushed themselves to make the deadline for that automatic shuffle found an appreciative audience for their screeds against [insert problematic knowledge organization system of the week]
December 9, 2024 at 11:46 PM
Beyond other #LIBR509 work, there may a great many things students were putting aside to complete their peer reviews!
December 9, 2024 at 11:46 PM
When faced with many competing demands on their time and attention, #LIBR509 students may find themselves a little under water on their obligations to their peers
December 9, 2024 at 11:46 PM
Each of the weekly assignments for #LIBR509 includes an opportunity for peer review. Take Irene's word for it that there's nothing overwhelming about this:

How about a bunch of #LIBR509 memes about peer review? Sitong has a feeling you'll be excited for these!
December 9, 2024 at 11:46 PM
If you've made it this far through the #LIBR509 meme spam, you're now safe from sandwiches.
December 5, 2024 at 12:58 AM
Remember, this whole thing is going down on the second meeting of the #LIBR509! Not only does this give students an expectation of how they'll spend their time together for the next several weeks, but folks like Finn immediately clock how much joy I derive from watching them arrive at "consensus"

If you're lost and can't figure out how #LIBR509 got from sandwiches to UFO's and beyond, becca has you covered (side note: within a minute of this .png being shared on Thursday, there were people shouting about the ocean in class)
December 5, 2024 at 12:53 AM
What starts as a frivolous exercise in class will lead to #LIBR509 students losing sleep for weeks (or, by the reports of alumni, years of vicious fights over dinners)
December 5, 2024 at 12:53 AM
For us instructors this #LIBR509 class session is mostly a wall of noise, and it's only thanks to memes like this that we can fully appreciate the diversity of arguments taking place in that hour
December 5, 2024 at 12:53 AM
In case you're worried that the whole #LIBR509 class was pandemonium, take comfort that islands of chillness persist
December 4, 2024 at 9:49 PM
Until Raven's #LIBR509 group was debating whether the capitalism falls within or outside the sandwich boundary.
December 4, 2024 at 9:46 PM
And this #LIBR509 meme by Jackson documents, this year's cohort really challenged the bounds of sandwichness.
December 4, 2024 at 9:46 PM
...until even the first #LIBR509 question, whether a hot dog is a sandwich, can't be discussed without the American Chopper decibel levels of Finn's meme
