Back in Chicago as a stay-at-home dad starting a small business. Expect some infosec/privacy/safety, 3D printing, and politics. You're probably following me because of my old job(s).
Still seems concerning that we're nine months into Trump's term and the US market has been basically negative in real terms (ie. adjusted for inflation and the US dollar).

Between that, a careful choice of fonts, and slowing down the text perimeters, I got legible text all the way down to 3mm tall (ie. the ICIRR hotline and phone number). That and the flag on the bottom came in at only six color changes. Anyway, I'll clean up and post the files today or tomorrow.

I'm mostly printing this whistle, but sometimes I swap the Chicago flag section for something more appropriate to a specific group. Nice to know it helped in an unexpected way.

And the current code went with checking for a range from -1 to -12, landed by @quidity.bsky.social back in April. There's also a nice comment about how they got to -12.

Honestly, you erase almost all the gains in the US market just by accounting for how much the dollar has weakened since inauguration day. (The dollar adjusted value is the black line in the graph.)

I don't get the narrative that the US market is performing well. It recovered from the April low, but is overall middling―practically zero after accounting for a weak dollar and elevated inflation. And that's all before feeling the effects of tariffs, layoffs, benefit cuts, the shutdown, etc.

Now I'm wondering if the W3C wasn't simply trolled by a designer who was intentionally making reference to the various dick jokes in the Silicon Valley TV show. Because, this is the Gavin Belson character's signature.

The daughter wanted to watch Heartstopper. So, we've been watching it with her, and one thing I have to say is that I'm a fan of this Tori Spring character. She's the real star of the show.

The kids have convinced me to treat them to Stan's Donuts while we walk the dogs this morning, since the right half of our Stan's is where they CG'd Madeline and Zelma Stanton's secret occult/magic shop.

It was even originally titled GenX (I remember the promo ad from 1993). But they changed it to Gen13 prior to printing, because Marvel threatened a lawsuit due to their upcoming Generation X book.

There were a lot of names tossed around before they settled on Gen X. Lately this sentiment seems most appropriate (just the cover; I don't remember anything about the book).

I don't think it's a great idea to invite Cocaine Bear into your own camp. Seems like a better strategy is to encourage that bear to keep doing its thing in the opposition's camp.

When people claim that the US stock market has recovered since "liberation day," it's important to put that in context. The US market is still down quite a bit since Trump took office, and it's getting killed by markets outside the US (and by typical historical measures).
