On this day in 1959, Ryne Sandberg was born in Spokane, WA. One of the best second basemen of all-time, he also went on to become one of Chicago’s most beloved athletes. Here’s an in-progress painting of him that I need to get back to.

And I *hate* talking about him in the past-tense.
