Nice morning at a very windy Dunwich Heath with Will B and Eddie M to see the adult male Turkestan Shrike. It took us nearly two hours to see due to a prolonged Maccie’s brekkie stop and the blustery conditions weren’t the best for filming but chuffed to get decent views in the end
Trimley SWT: Our first Stonechat of 2025 ringed this morning. This young male is about six weeks earlier than the norm so I’m guessing it’s a fairly local bird feeling the chill of the recent cold winds?
Trimley SWT: Our 15th Kingfisher of 2025 ringed this morning now leaves us one short of the record of 216 set last year with about 7 weeks left of the season. I still wish I knew where they’re coming from and going too?
At the ripe old age of 25, my Skinner trap finally caught a stunning Blue Underwing / Clifden Nonpareil in the garden at Martlesham Wilds! What a cool moth!
Trimley SWT: Some decent vizmig this morning with a Glossy Ibis south at 0945hrs as well as 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1500+ Swallow, 200+ House Martin, 100+ Sand Martin, 150+ Meadow Pipit, 1 Yellow Wagtail, 3 Linnet, 6 Siskin and 8 Reed Bunting. Ringing included 3 Sedge and 3 Reed Warbler.
Still shaking after a potential FIRST FOR THE UK today at Trimley Marshes SWT with this Reed Warbler bearing a ring from fooking BUDAPEST!! 🥳 We can’t find any records of any other Reed Warblers from there? In fact, we can’t find records of any passerines from there?
A nice start to December at Trimley SWT with this cracking adult male Sparrowhawk ringed edging us ever closer to 60 species for the year! With three species of Thrush ringed too and only using one net, it was a lovely with Elz and Dan.
Hi folks, he goes with my first post on here. 😂Here’s a brief bit of video of the Eastern Stonechat at Trimley Marshes SWT that I took this lunchtime. It’s got a Stejneger’s feel about it with the warm plumage and two-tone rump…
