While agreeing with the gist of your message, dishonest fraud is a tautology. Second, consider this example. I was recently listed as a co-author on a submission. Editor felt this was fishy and contacted me. This was luck. But if this had been published would that make a fraud?

I think your point makes sense. The criticism reminds me of a common reaction when results failed to be reproduced. The replication experiment differed in details from the original experiment. I would think: if results are not robust to small differences, they may be irrelevant.
