YouTube's algorithm has worked out the brute force trick annoyingly, but I spend most of time in the Subscriptions page, so tend to minimise my exposure to its god awful algorithm.

¹ It's quite probable that I'm subject to algorithms I'm not aware of. Also if an algorithm brute forces a recommendation at me, again and again, I will probably have a look just to see what the fuck is going on, so...

I've largely found that algorithms largely have no idea how to deal with the way I use the internet. That doesn't mean I'm immune from algorithms, far from it¹, but I'm actually less likely to read or watch something simply because it was algorithmically recommended.

The only similarity that could've held any water is the Tardigrade. But as you say it's not exactly an original idea, and the executions vary wildly. The tardigrade seems to be pretty central to the game, whereas in the show it features in only 3 episodes and then is gone.
