Wicket is home but less than impressed with his new digs for much of the next 8 weeks while he recovers from spinal surgery.

This is Wicket. He was not himself the past couple days & when I lifted him to the couch last night because he wasn't able to get there himself, he yelped in + pain.
Turns out he has a disc bulge pressing on his sciatic nerve. Surgery tomorrow as he's losing feeling & function in his back legs. 😢

My husband wore this tee to vote today. He called it his "democracy t shirt".

(For reference he is very progressive so he's saying no to things like fascism.)

MEDIA RELEASE FEBRUARY 2025 VOICES SHARED AT THE FIRST NATIONS WRITERS FESTIVAL 2025 The First Nations Writers Festival (FNWF) is back for its highly anticipated 2025 edition, continuing its mission to celebrate the voices, cultures and traditions of First Nations communities through literature, art and storytelling. Set to take place on 30-31 May 2025 in Townsville, this inspiring not-for-profit initiative will open with a Welcome to Wulgurukaba Country. Artists, storytellers and creatives from across the Greater Pacific and beyond will be brought together. Through books and storytelling, the festival showcases the incredible talent and contributions of First Nations people – in their own voices. Anna Borzi, First Nations Writers Festival Founder said, “When you raise one author, you raise a community.” Award details People from the Greater Pacific and in Australia are encouraged to submit their unpublished but completed manuscripts. Expressions of interest must be submitted by 28 February 2025, while the deadline for manuscripts is on 31 March 2025. Winners, if eligible, are in for an exciting book award package of $2,000 to $5,000. Further information on submissions, criteria for judging and deadlines can be found on firstnationswritersfestival.org/awards-criteria. Annual Christmas celebration cake

The top tier is chocolate and vanilla in alternate layers, the lower tier is strawberry and vanilla marble cake.

I made garlic butter cheesy pastry Christmas trees
Paired 3cm strips of puff pastry filled with garlic butter and cheese, folded on their sides into a Christmas tree shape, slathered with more garlic butter and cheese and baked until crisp and puffed and golden, then skewered bottom to top. On the top of the skewer (and the tree) is a puff pastry star.

My anniversary present. Next Thursday marks 26 years married.
Silver and diamond drop earrings. The drop is small diamonds in a halo and in the middle is a larger diamond which is suspended so it moves and sparkles with any movement.

Wicket, one of our dogs, has a hip muscle strain and is having laser therapy. He has to wear protective goggles while he's having the treatment.
Hubs says we should get him some raybans now.
