Agreed! The anime adaptation of the 90’s set the bar really high, and it tells a lot that even Jansson herself didn’t despise it. :D but even it doesn’t really capture the philosophical aspect of the Moomins, but no one’s perfect.

I’m not very excited about this, but I give them the benefit of doubt. As long as it’s not action packed adventure with slap stick and pop music/musical scenes, or any sort of us and them set ups, they’ve exceeded my expectations.
