I feel like it has more to do with values and frankly the size of the development teams. Indie small dev team vs AI pushing triple A has some differences in values, I find the sims community overall leans less AI and less large corp since EA... has been EA and we generally want away from that

Additional context, the trans character in the game is not a +1 for the game devs, the name they chose mimics JK Rowlings naming conventions in an inherently transphobic manner as well. "Sirona Ryan" is transphobic even if they added a trans character to avoid backlash.
