We talked at the annual conference of Committee on Migration Research of Polish Academy of Science abt ongoing humanitarian crisis on Poland-Belarus border, especially after the suspension of right to asylum, introduced by the pro-european & liberal Civic Coalition. All quiet on the Eastern border.

But hey - if anyone’s looking for a keynote on Schrödinger’s migrant, I might just be your person ;)

Perks of being an interdisciplinary migration scholar?
- your inbox gifts you with an invitation to share your “expertise” at very weird conferences.
Do I work on migration, borders, and such? Yes.
Do I understand quantum entanglement? Only in the metaphorical sense ;)

--> we know this support is crucial. Barring it would hit the most vulnerable hardest.
It's NOT about privilege, as the president claims, but abt reparative justice. Talking about “overprivileged” refugees only shows how little one understands of refugee reality.

Heading into holiday mode, but with unease abt what awaits after. The presidential veto on extending financial support for Ukrainian refugees in Poland leaves many in uncertainty. From fieldwork in collective accommodation centres in PL, -->

Amazing! Thank u for letting us know!

Everytime we talk abt the hostilities and human rights violations on the PL-BY border it is challlenging to us, but immense gratitude to @badaczkinagranicy.bsky.social for making this together and supporting one another ✊

We brought the discussion abt the EU-Belarus border to @associationruta.bsky.social annual conference, where we shared the reflections on hostile environment & whiteness on the border during the ongoing humanitarian crisis and ethnographic walk in the borderland as a research method

What an amazing panel we just had at @associationruta.bsky.social annual conference abt unequal citizenship within and outside of Ukraine! We talked abt Ukr Roma experiences as IDP & forced migrants in Poland, with our colleaques, co-workers and co-thinkers, very grateful for all contributions! 💙❤️💚

Finally, broader recognition is still due for the efforts and contributions of Romani civil society in defence of Ukraine and humanitarian relief. Hats off to all the amazing speakers, as well as to the great moderation and organisation @terezahendl.bsky.social 💪

Referring to limited and belated work on collecting testimonies of Romani survivors of WW2, it is also is part of the social responsibility of researchers in knowledge production not only abt but first and foremost FOR Roma communities! 💙❤️💚

Very moved by this great opening panel at annual @associationruta.bsky.social conference. Our colleaque within #rocit project, #TetianaStorozhko talked abt importance of collecting testimonies & documenting Romani experience of war and displacement.

From a reviewers’ life: It is quite amazing as it happened for the first time - I just reviewed a paper, and… it is good. I cannot think of any ways to improve it, suggest sth, it doesn’t lack methodologically, theoretically, it holds together. What a day! ;) #academicpublishing #reviewing

On World Refugee Day I am thinking of ppl we met during our fieldwork in PL & UKR - Ukrainian Roma. Their experience of refuge widely differes from that of other refugees from & within Ukraine, here are some reflections by our team from Poland: www.migracje.uw.edu.pl/wp-content/u...

With my modest contribution in a form of a book review - time to chill and read 📚📖 from a venue located really at the heart of the theme of this SI, how cool is that! #lowersilesia #niederschlesien #dolnyśląsk 💚

Finally, this paper is both painful and powerful reflection on the experiences gathered by my co-workers and colleagues from the ROCIT (rocit.pl) project, both as activists and researchers. Especially today, it stands as a stark reminder of how dearly we need solidarities. Now more than ever.

Second, this bottom-up mobilisation affirms Polish Roma’s long-contested belonging to both the state and the nation. In doing so, it grants them the right to have claims - to voice concerns, call out racist and antigypsyist practices in refugee reception, and to demand change.
