Actually, lemme dial that back a bit, I don't fully know the source of that laugh (yet), but this at least appears to be the sound at full length, unfiltered. I still need to find the earliest instance of this laugh being used, if any before SM64.

I think it's more "death should be a natural thing, no one should shoulder the burden of becoming it"; the scenario with which Everhood exists, including Pink/Red/the player's role is an irregularity even within its own world.
