Kiwi here, a Dr visit can cost $50 but hospital and all treatment is free. Our family also gets free prescriptions as we have a high user in the family. Last time I looked about $6000 of my yearly income tax went to healthcare for everyone, and that's fine with me.

We were the only Kiwis on a tour with a heap of Americans. I was loath to talk about US politics the whole trip because I had second hand embarrassment for them, but in the end there were folks who shared our view.
