Staten vallen je gedachten aan met propaganda
Het is waarschijnlijk niet iets waar je dagelijks bij stilstaat: vijandige staten die je gedachten proberen te beïnvloeden. Toch worden kiezers gemanipuleerd door online legers van buitenlandse regeringen en vallen journalisten ten prooi aan online trollen. Károly Végh schreef zijn proefschrift over ‘cognitieve beïnvloeding’ door staten en de rol van mensenrechtenwetgeving bij het beschermen van onze gedachten. ‘We moeten ons realiseren dat we continu worden blootgesteld aan propaganda van andere staten.’

In Defence of the Informed Mind
On 10 September Károly Végh will defend his PhD dissertation entitled ‘In Defence of the Informed Mind - The applicability of international human rights law for the conduct of extraterritorial influence’. The thesis aims to explore how international human rights law applies to the conduct of disinformation, propaganda and other cognitive manipulations by foreign States.
