We need a smarter approach that invests in the prevention and early interventions that are proven to work. Real safety starts with stable housing, access to healthcare and mental health support and it means acting now to prevent harm before it happens.

If Labor were serious about keeping communities safe, they’d invest in what actually works - prevention, housing and mental health. But these are all the things that Labor continues to cut.

These laws prove Labor is incapable of implementing policies that actually work to improve community safety.

Harsher & longer sentences are linked to higher rates of reoffending and worse long-term outcomes - and do nothing to address the root causes of crime.

Over the next few months, we're going to spread the word near and far of Labor’s crooked plan to demolish the towers, privatise the land, and displace 10,000 people in the middle of a housing crisis. (4/5)

With an election looming, we want to force Labor into having to defend this outrageous plans at every community meeting, every press conference, every announcement - hopefully to the point that they can no longer even try to justify it. (3/5)

Our collective pressure has delayed and disrupted Labor’s plan to force the demolition through.

Every day the community campaigned - whether they letterboxed, spoke out at the inquiry, or peacefully blocked the demolition - this project has become more toxic and less viable. (2/5)

Jacinta Allan's draconian approach is eroding people's rights, is not making us safer, and diverts resources from what actually works. (3/3)

Recent data on police racial profiling confirms that First Nations and other people of colour are disproportionately targeted by police - unaccountable powers like this will hit them hardest. We also know they're ineffective - only 1% of these searches find illicit items (2/3)

This is a fantastic boost, but there's a lot more investment needed for walking, cycling and public transport - across Melbourne and regional Victoria.
