The two organs in Laurenskerk in Alkmaar are world-famous. The small one was built in 1511 by Jan van Covelens and the large one (with a stunning case) was built by Jacobus Caltus van Hagerbeer in 1645 and rebuilt in 1723 by Frans Caspar Schnitger. Wonderful instruments!

Yes, it is. The Wexford performance was in the ballroom in White's so not ideal. But it was worth seeing it at least semi performed. The radio broadcast has stuck in my head. It was the ideal medium.

Wexford did the piano version before the pandemic. Not in the opera house unfortunately, but it was lovely, and heartbreaking. It’s a little jewel. I first heard the full version on the radio, years ago but I honestly can’t remember if it was RTÉ or the BBC!
