I put together this pirate Ariel costume for our Disney cruise last year, out of parts of other costumes and a hat u bought. Had a great time with it - Capt Jack and I scrutinized Chase’s pirate skirt 😹

The pic of the Star Trek uniform is actually my mom’s she made for herself at the same time - I still have that one! Mine got given away when I outgrew it.

Let’s go back a little further. In 1997 & 1995 for Halloween, I used the same suit jacket and tie to be a MiB and Groucho Marx. In the late 80s/early 90s we used to attend Midsouthcon, & at one point I wore the Star Trek TNG uniform my mom made for me - officially my first con costume! #cosplay

Halloween 1998 - I cobbled together a costume based on one of my characters from my online comic SunDowner. I remember driving to every store I could think of trying to find costume parts with no luck, so in the end it was mostly stuff from my own closet. I did make the bow, though! #cosplay

Halloween 1999 I was going to be Utena, then I got FF8 in September and immediately had to be Quistis. My grandma, mom and my headed to Hancock fabrics and picked out “close enough” fabrics. Updated it in 2004 w/a wig, new pants and boots. Still have it all! #cosplay

I made Beatrix from FF9 for Animazement 2001, and it was a mess. Had no idea what I was doing! Only good parts were the parts my grandma and my parents helped with - the jacket and belt. The rest was falling apart cardboard, cotton gloves, poorly curled hair… 😹 always wanted to remake it, but alas…

Halloween 2000 - my first Sailor Jupiter costume. My grandma & mom helped me build this around an altered leotard. I tried to make boot covers out of the green taffeta from the skirt - those were so bad they never saw the light of day 😹 #cosplay #sailormoon

Didn’t finish covering all my old costumes before dragoncon so back at it - here’s my card captor Sakura costume from Animazement 2001. The outfit in the show is green, I made mine black because my fabric store didn’t have anything green and stretchy 😹 #cosplay

Another shot of my Lake Retreat Padme/Taylor Swift mashup. The robe was not originally supposed to be part of this, but I decided to throw my Disneybound robe into my bin, just so I could feel a little more covered up while walking around. Nothing like wearing a classic at #dragoncon - my Princess Leia costume was a great start to the weekend. Last time I wore senatorial at dcon was 2006, and that’s still the belt I wear with my current version! #cosplay #starwars
