My point is: if this is how TV is going to be produced now, with sequels coming out every 3-4 years, then shows are going to have to figure out not only how to catch viewers up on the changes in characters’ lives but also to catch up with their viewers’ lives.

I am currently reviewing a book that cites me, but does so incorrectly by citing a dissertation I never wrote from an institution I never attended. The title it gives for the dissertation does not produce any other hits, which suggests it’s more likely a “hallucination” than a footnote mixup.

I will add the following: our students lack the research skills required to audit an LLM essay for errors. They don’t arrive on campus with these skills; we teach it to them over four long years. So throwing freshmen in the deep end and saying “swim your way to a shore of rectitude” is folly.
