It might be time to dig out your old Law & Democracy textbook, or just do a bit of plain old-fashioned simple research from a non-biased source. It’s all there in the government public records, the Hansard, legal texts. /14

Let’s assume that something you wanted – maybe a change to your social benefits like EI – wins the vote in Parliament. Next that bill goes to the Senate. The Senate must pass the bill that has been voted on for it to become law. /9

So it’s important for you to check and see who voted for what you want and who voted against it. This is the only real way to know who had your interests at heart. You can’t feel your way through that. You can, however, learn it through the government’s public records. /8

Each issue being addressed by a government must be voted on in Parliament through an introduced bill. The Prime Minister cannot make a unilateral decision and enforce it. All MPs (Members of Parliament) get a vote. /7
