Feed Tom's family! But only at Christmas! Don't ask me what happens when you feed them after Christmas! I won't tell you!
Nerds, I have a Threadless store where apparently everything is on sale right now! Go buy some stuff! For Christmas! Or whatever! So I can feed my family! At Christmas! Or whenever!

If the library doesn't have a book you want in their system, order it! In Canada, we have the Public Lending Right that pays us for our books that are in the library.
This is the big one for me. If you absolutely cannot afford the book, GO TO THE LIBRARY. You still get it for free, but in a way that still *matters* to publishers. The libraries are one of the few socialist projects we still have. USE THEM.
And the thing is, man, libraries exist.

I saw a dog get hit by a car tonight. Thankfully, he survived. I managed to get him off the road, wrap him in a coat, and get him into the car of a woman who was looking for him. My brain, thankfully, has started repressing the image. Warranted a good cry when I got home.

"Let’s say 20 years ago the rate for a page of pencils was $150. People still get paid that."

My work is largely in the book market, buuuut yeah.

BOOM! recently reached out to offer an IP gig with the following rates:
script $50/page, pencils&inks $150/pg, colors $50/pg
The one about comic book page rates – again. News flash: Comic book page rates are STILL stagnant, after all these years, and for indie cartoonists it's even harder

Another grey day, but at least I've got a little bundle of fresh carrots from my wife's garden.

Feels selfish to take five minutes to relax after a 17-hour day instead of just heading to bed.

I loved PREDATOR: BADLANDS!

If you love a piece of TV animation made in the Eighties or Nineties, there's a safe bet TMS animated it. They're the best of the best.

PREDATOR: BADLANDS is terrific. Elle Fanning's charm, mixed with the gooey monster effects, is a ton of fun. Dan Trachtenberg has cracked the code.

I'm missing Gord Downie today. It was nice to know he was out there, that the Hip were always only a couple of months from touring.

Child 2 had a sleepover last night, and when I asked the kids what they wanted for breakfast, one of them asked for three poached eggs. I did, in appreciation for the sheer audacity.
