A easy one to help with red tailed is their belly band (not on their chest but actual belly! And the dark stripes on the shoulder area of their wings when looking at them flying above you. Here’s a picture from the hawkwatch international raptor ID app that’s very helpful!

Chased a Leconte’s Sparrow at Jamaica Bay today and just barely scraped a digibin pic ☺️ we also have a Townsends Warbler at my local patch great day for vagrants. #birds

Late fall warblers. There was a grey headed Orange Crowned around today too but my picture is of its back 🧐 so here’s two of the three warblers notorious for overwintering in uptown NYC #birds

I have a #bird that checks both boxes for #birsoftheday theme. Northern Mockingbird in shades of gray, also with its beak open.
