Over the weekend I tried watching "Jaws 3D." I got about halfway through it before turning it off. It's bad. At times it felt like a slasher film. Teenagers running around in the dark getting killed. The actors were doing a lot of cocaine, which may have contributed to the raunchy goofiness.

Good to know nothing has changed.

So what you're saying is that it's an alien spaceship? And we're doomed?

My Space Review article with Harry is not yet posted, but it deals with this:

I had not realized how hard that ship was used during Vietnam. It lost a propeller twice.

The weird thing about that image is it was taken in July. What looks like ice on the water is just different ways the sun is reflecting off the water.

USS Oriskany, USS Ranger, and USS Enterprise, from space, and from an aircraft, early 1970s. My article with Harry Stranger about this will appear in The Space Review in a few hours.

There's a neat little story in Glen Swanson's new book on Star Trek about how they sought out the new TRW aerospace campus to film "Operation Annihilate!" It was futuristic, but had not yet appeared in other TV shows. LA was growing fast.

I know a lot of people got really enthusiastic the last time. If they really have something, they could/should put out a few clips. Otherwise, we should remain really skeptical.

I'm not a big Dr. Who fan, but we've seen this story before. There was a lot of excitement about 7-8 years ago when somebody claimed to have found a bunch of episodes in South Africa. And then nothing happened. People either need to demonstrate that they have them, or keep quiet.

Vantor and Lanteris sound like alien names from "Plan 9 From Outer Space."

I believe that next year SpaceX is launching 5 missions to Mars. And in 2033, they will launch 500 missions to Mars. This seems entirely feasible, and not the kind of idea dreamed up by somebody on drugs.
