I also attended the full Netflix conference call discussing the proposed deal and the VAST majority of chatter was focused on film and television (and IP ownership).

This 'Business Overview' slide contained the only mention of WB's video game business.

Immediate thought is Netflix will definitely build games around IP like Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, etc—but I’d be surprised if it wanted to acquire a big studio ecosystem after spending the past two years scaling down its internal ops.

Thanks for the kind words (and for reading)!

I could write a small book with the amount of responses I received (maybe I will one day), but I hope the words that made it onto the page highlight why journalists are increasingly shunning the corporate world to chart their own path—and the risks they accept to do so.

It just doesn't add up. Totally understand that Epic doesn't have to platform certain products, but why submit a ratings questionnaire for a title that had already been rated (in a way that would allow it to be sold on your store)?

The lack of consistency and transparency here is the big concern.

No idea, but it sounds like Epic submitted an IARC questionnaire based on its own interpretation of the content in Horses to generate an Adult Only (AO) rating that prohibits it from being sold on the EGS.

BUT the IARC had already issued a PEGI 18 and ESRB M rating to Santa Ragione weeks prior.

The point being, it appears those guidelines remain decidedly unclear—not least because Epic (like Steam) hasn't indicated which scenes or elements in Horses breach its content policies.

I'm probably preaching to the choir here, but if you want to support journalists with a view to generating more expansive coverage the best thing you can do is help support and promote their work.
