Nobody else I asked to be like “is this a normal thing??” Had ever had it happen either lol!! It was the most bizarre spam I’d ever gotten for sure!

Now, a recliner for 8+ hours puts me in bed and up to a 6-7 on the pain scale. Absolute bullshit. Poor design on the hardware. I want a refund. I demand to speak to a manager about this. This is planned obsolescence damnit!

It really wasn’t that long ago I could go a full 8 hours just in a desk chair with no problems. Hell, I remember when I used to STAND for 8 hours at work. Yes I ended up in pain always, but I could do it. I think if I tried that now I’d simply collapse on the floor within a couple hours.

This is true of other bigotries like ableism & homophobia & misogyny too FYI. Fix your heart, but dismantle the oppressive systems, which are all interlocked anyway. This is the project of lifetimes, but is fundamentally necessary.

Anyway. Mini rant about systemic oppression over.

Every person in the world could be perfectly enlightened and free of prejudice, but if we’re still living in systems that systematically disempower & drive our black and brown people, then racism is still a fucking societal problem, no matter how noble the individuals.

Like yes, fix your heart, root out racism in yourself, & educate it out of your peers. But you also need to be doing the work to dismantle the SYSTEMS which are the real reinforcers and driving forces of racism.

No, but I did once get an email saying I had been “assigned” as a peer reviewer for an article. The article was in my interest area, but I’m a librarian/archivist not an academic & also I’d never heard of the journal or had any previous dealings with them. Ignored it & they tried again months later
