Historical Fact:

The US "Dept. Of Defence" was created in 1947 under the National Security Act 1947 signed by President Truman.

Before that it was first established as the N.M.E - The National Military Establishment later changed to the D.O.D in 1949.

You didn't Win WW1 you came in at the last minute and joined the allied cause for the last few months.

You didn't win WW2, you had your asses handed to you at Pearl and joined the Allied Cause for Victory over Fascism.

As for every other War in between you haven't won a single war on your own.

Time no doubt will be the final arbiter to answer those questions but as you read these stories of civilizations past and reflect, you will certainly think about our own fragile existence and whether we too will share the same fate or break that mould.
