Kroger will lay off ~1,000 employees.

In December, it announced $7.5B in stock buybacks – which juice stock prices, enriching shareholders and boosting CEO pay.

Just so happens that Kroger's last CEO was paid 457x its typical employee in 2024.

Textbook corporate greed.

If the Senate confirms the wildly unqualified Emil Bove, it will be responsible for the even Trumpier and more lawless Supreme Court for which the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit is potentially but a Bovean stepping stone. He is an antijudge extraordinaire

The speaker of the Minnesota House, Melissa Hortman is assassinated with numerous other persons by a MAGA gunman whose screed says he wants the GOP to control the legislature. This barely causes a ripple in US media. Trump won't call the survivors to express condolences. Reps boycott her memorial.

We now have the details of the federal 2026 budget proposal, and it spells the end of IMLS. The request is $6,000,000 to "conduct an orderly closeout of IMLS."

Whatever happens in the 2 court cases would be moot if this passes.

Dear Republicans,

Cutting science budgets has not historically been a Republican thing. For example, Lincoln created the National Academy of Sciences. Eisenhower's term increased the science budget 366%. Gerald Ford, +15%; George H. W. Bush, +30%; George W. Bush, +54%.

Just sayin’.

We know, it's a big goal.

If you've received tax dollars for your science, you have a responsibility to inform *your* community what is at stake: public health, the economy, innovation, and America's global leadership.
