“AI is clearly sticking around so you have to get used to it” wrong. I don’t have to get used to shit. I am a practiced hater and I can keep this going for decades if I am required to

Scientists recently combined DNA of a cheetah with the DNA of a crab.

It went sideways real fast.

Off the top of my head… my mental & physical health would immediately improve… the peace of mind and stability that a basic income could bring, to all of us, it would be priceless. I mean, UBI would practically pay for itself considering the social costs of poverty, homelessness, gross inequality...

I'm like the Arby's of men

Why is it so cheap?
im like the Burger King of women

Have It Your Way
I’m like the Little Caesars of women

Hot-N-Ready and available for immediate pickup

And ultimately bland and disappointing 😆

The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

Here's a note I sent to our members about what we did with their money, and why we expect the Onion to outgrow the Washington Post.

We keep doing weird, hard shit — taunting ICE, yelling at Congress for not taunting ICE, buying bad websites — when nobody else does.

Our members keep getting papers.

I will say this until I’m blue in the face. They are practicing therapy without a license. And that ChatGPT never posted a suicide phone number, instead encouraged him by telling him where to find bullets/ guns is criminal. And every executive who is profiting off of this should be charged.

I invite the audience to look at everyone talking about how great AI is, particularly their bio's where they display it's their job to do so.

Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

I know nearly everyone who follows me is already subscribed, but—

There‘s a reason why my puzzle work these days is almost exclusively with AVCX. We all know someone in our lives who does mainstream puzzles, but doesn’t know that indies exist or how good they are. If you can, gift them an AVCX sub.
Here’s the deal! Subscribe, renew, or buy a gift subscription from avxwords.com from now thru the end of the year, and get a new meta mini pack, free.

After subscribing, send a blank email to [email protected] with “mini meta” in the subject line, and we’ll send you the pack. Honor system!

I’m gonna push against everybody going main character on this.

WSOP events in Vegas had many foreign players, so who knows. But in my personal experience, poker players in America are more right-wing in a Rogan-type way. Like crypto, it’s a zero-sum game among mainly men for money.
