Currently, we are in mid(late)-stage of end of the internet we knew. And we have to make steps that will make this process less painful for us as a community. We have to become more resilient, less dependent on currently operating bad actors, and to have more power.

You are creative, you are the BIG part of what attracts people to certain platforms (remember how bsky started?) You have the power to force people to move to follow your creations. And that’s great. But you also have power to hold people in place. And you should be aware that you are able to do so.

There is no way to vote current event out. There is no way to change CEO’s minds. There is no way for peaceful change. They want power, money, they want to scrap everything for profit, they want AI to replace artists for casual people. And you HAVE the power to change this. But you must ACT.

1. First – Artists should be less dependent on big tech again.
Artist used to have their own websites, portfolios, communities on the small internet. Big social-media platforms killed those spaces. Join the current wave of people who want to spark life into independent internet again! [1/2]

[2/2] For this you can use:
- neocities.org
- nekoweb.org
- if you have know-how – selfhost (everything)
This can create a good way of community to find a stable way to follow you, and give you a way to self express yourself without any boundaries of stupid word-limits.
And html is fun!

2. Create a list!
Make a document where you will put all your fellow artists you follow, their webpages, social media accounts, all links they provide for following their activity. It seems like a lot of work but I will ask you what's a lot of work when your account will be deleted by AI bot.

3. Be present on multiple platforms
It’s hard I know, but that’s the necessity in today’s world. You don’t have to scroll those platforms, only thing you have to do there is to post your creations. In many cases, that’s enough.
Recently I found out about www.postybirb.com - I have to try it!
PostyBirb
PostyBirb is an application that helps artists post art and other multimedia to multiple websites more quickly. The overall goal of PostyBirb is to cut down on the time it takes to post a single subm...

4. Move into decentralized platform
Change platform into something moderated by real human instead of AI bot that will flag your account. Fediverse is really nice place, with a lot of nice people and communities. Mastodon, Wafrn, choose whatever fit’s you, and enjoy everyone being able to follow you

5. Stop engaging with algorithm.
Algorithm wants you to engage. It wants you to feel bad, angry and glued to the screen. I saw way too many artists downed, demotivated and doomscrolling trough apps that constantly made them feel bad.

6 And lastly – Make your backups
Online platforms are not your ever available source of portfolio works. Make backup, store your works (and your inspirations) on your disc, make copies, be resilient to malfunction and downtime.

And remember, bsky is not decentralized. It’s hard to use it this way, and it’s on purpose. Do not fall for such traps ever again.

Well that sometimes happen, I for example got whole summer holiday without drawing because I was so overworked and had so many things to do ehhh, but hey, now I am kinda back again? Just had to force myself to break bondaries for few days.

I don't think that forcing yourself to draw something is a good idea. Especially if you feel burned out. Sometimes looking for something new is therapeutic, so don't worry about that!

I like to imagine him saying something like "Yo my brother, uncle Tux got a bit old, so he asked his cousin to help him with a lot of work he got to finish this year!"

Sorry to hear that, hold up strong 🫂
