Khatori ended up going through an existential crisis after ShB. He hated how that he wasn't actually supposed to exist or how he was someone he isn't. He also hated he had no choice to kill Emet-Selch. Only Pachi seemed to bother trying to help him through his turmoil.

Emet-Selch knew better than to enter Khatori's quarters. He didn't like this game that Khatori had cooked up in the moment. Khatori had to remind Emet that this wasn't a game, he was serious. Emet-Selch couldn't help but pity the shard of Azem.

After talking with Venat of the future events that would unfold, Khatori would soon have to face Emet-Selch as well. When he initially told the other, Emet-Selch refuted his claims. Khatori could only hope he would listen, Venat knew they would work it out.

Of course at some point Emet-Selch would have enough of the familiar. He would demand answers to Khatori's constant glaring but the man wouldn't fess up to any real answers, just rudely dodge each question.
Even Khatori couldn't name how he was feeling seeing the man before him.

I like the idea that Khatori overtime grows to resent his past life. Like, everyday he finds out more about Azem, the more he finds he becomes disconnected with his own reality.

This made me realize some had not seen my big warforged dog! This is Coil. He is bound to a key that unlocks his muzzled jaw, sending him into a blind frenzy. Passed between owners who used him as a weapon for centuries, he now finds himself among a group of people he cares about, and care for him.
