Leftist (both cultural and economic). Born in Texas and still stuck here. I work in a bookstore and can't believe this is reality. It just gets worse.
Maybe Talarico/Beto should run for Gov/Lt. Gov?

The ease with which Democratic politicians have adopted the term "narco-terrorist" is really not encouraging. Don't care for it.

Not only is ICE snatching hard working people who are trying to earn a living, they’re taking their money too?

A witness recorded ICE agents taking a cash box from a taco stand in La Puente during an operation where four people were arrested.

JFC. Maybe just concentrate on keeping the damn planes from crashing?

"We can't allow fact checkers into the country" is late-stage USSR shit, real end-of-empire stuff
Holy shit.

My employer, Dartmouth College, today boasts it's 1st Ivy "to launch AI at an institutional scale." It is doing this by partnering--"more than a collaboration"--with Anthropic, a company that stole the books of many faculty, me included, which many of us are suing.

They're using the confinement box, one of the most horrific methods of CIA torture in the post-9/11 black sites, against migrants now. This is the direct result of the lack of consequences for the architects of the torture program. Either there will be criminal penalties for this or it will expand.

Amnesty International, interviewing migrant detainees, identifies use of the confinement box. There can be no denying it is a torture prison

So Windows 11 has a music folder, and it just moves your music there whether you want it there or not. It is where your music is stored. Why is it not stored where I fucking saved it? No clue. I am gonna be an old man switching to Linux before this adventure is all over

And if he obeys it he will go to prison?
Did you ask him if his job was under threat if he failed to follow an illegal order? Did you ask him if he knows killing the shipwrecked is an illegal order? Did you ask him if he was promised clemency if he took the fall? What did he say? TELL US. Stop dancing around these questions.

HIMES: What it raises is what happens when an apparently good man like Admiral Bradley is placed in a context where he knows that if he countermands an order he's uncomfortable with it's very likely he'll be fired

Look, I am not going to waste precious minutes crafting a joke about trainwrecks and The Futurists and techbros because even if I get it just right and it is fucking hilarious, nobody will read it, and nobody will get it. But it is out there in the ether, and it is very funny.
