It's like shrieking BAD FAITH or some goofy debate term at the start of an argument, a brass knuckles-loaded punch to try and settle a discomfiting topic. Youtubers and writers can rely on that since they're talking to themselves but it makes you sound childish when it's under any scrutiny

If somebody reviews something that lumps in a lot of personal/social topics or has a vastly different read on some part than what a majority thinks, it's still 'objective' if it meets what I said

Invoking 'objectivity' just pads over a personal disagreement/discomfort in what they're experiencing

To me, 'objective' can only mean that you're not getting something fundamentally wrong - a mechanic that doesn't actually exist, a fact about the development that isn't true, etc.

But as with 'journalism', 'objectivity' must now take on the baggage of whatever anxieties exist in the interlocutor

I had a writing idea simmering about why I've strayed away from the term 'journalist' in what I do, and the concept of 'objectivity' being very warped in most people's minds is a big thing to do with it.

I had hoped that the rush into a fad with dubious real and spiritual value would eventually spawn a reckoning over how gullible people have become in search of "counter-culture", as well as how much these fads peck at latent gambling addiction in hobbyist spaces. Wrong on all counts!
