Eczema is common in Europe, but rare in the countryside in Africa, East Asia and South America 🧴

Prof Flohr is studying why that is as he hopes to "develop new ways of preventing the development of these conditions and help find novel therapies, especially for those who are severely affected."
Quote card from Prof Carsten Flohr, "While I know a lot about the skin and allergies, it is only through the collaboration with experts from other fields that we are able to understand the links between the skin and the brain as well as how bacteria and fungi interact with our human immune system.”

Many factors affect population health, such as housing, instability, homelessness, and severe deprivation.

Our King's Health Partners Strategy to 2030 says that to best serve our communities, our health and care system must be person-centred while remaining adaptive to population needs.
A quote card from Prof Josip Car, Director for Population Health, King’s Health Partners. "The shocking inequalities in our health and care system – particularly in south east London – mean it has never been more important to gather evidence and implement system-wide initiatives that will have real impact on a population scale.”

We joined forces with @policyatkings.bsky.social on new a report that highlights the urgent need for university health partnerships.

Partnerships like ours drive huge benefits to society by accelerating innovations, advancing careers, and upskilling the next generation of healthcare leaders 📰🔗⬇️
Prof Graham Lord, Executive Director of King's Health Partners and Senior Vice-President (Health & Life Sciences) at King's College London - "After 76 years, the NHS’s original model no longer meets the demands of modern healthcare. University health partnerships are not a luxury - they are a necessity. As the government develops its 10-Year Health Plan, we need urgent action to align incentives and strengthen partnerships now, while we still can. The evidence is overwhelming: research active organisations deliver better patients outcomes and drive economic growth.”.
