🌠 I'm kishi, owner of kishisdoujinshicorner.com, a website dedicated to translating/sharing old Gundam and Legend of the Galactic Heroes stuff, mostly focusing on print publications (such as books + magazines) and video games from the 1980s to the 2000s.
Three issues of the magazine Monthly OUT. Top cover features Kamille Bidan flying through the air while holding onto Haro

Day 2: Julian and Admiral
Julian in a light purple shirt and white apron. He's holding Admiral (his cat with white and dark brown markings) and smiling with his eyes closed. Admiral is nuzzling his face happily.

If you're only interested in the animated segments, here's a video with both. I'm planning on subbing the cutscenes from Disc 2 for fun as well.

Chibi Chara Game Legend of the Galactic Heroes (PS1) – GO! GO! Casino [Disc 1]

Let's play through this odd little LoGH spin-off game from 1999. This covers the first disc, a minigame collection with two unlockable animated shorts.

what are they whispering about? 🤔

I'll be pretty busy these next couple of weeks, but I plan to keep working on the articles and subtitles for the chibi game as I'm able. Hoping to fit in a little drawing time too

Road to Char's Counterattack - Animedia 12/1987

Getting back to Gundam articles and pre-release CCA coverage with this feature in Animedia, including comments from Hiroyuki Kitazume and a few others from the new generation of staff working on the film.

Two page spread. On the right are Char, who is looking left with his hand in a fist, Quess, and Nanai, who is looking down at Quess disapprovingly. On the left in Amuro is his pilot suit reaching out towards Char while Chan holds him back.

Found some old Mandarake auction listings for cels of character art that appears in the Chibi Chara game. Odd how Poplin's hair color is correct on the cel but instead appears brown in game
Chibi Julian holding a deck of cards in one hand and pointing with the other Old auction listing for a cel of this same Julian artwork. It sold for 3200 yen Chibi Poplin with a big goofy smile and his hands behind his head Old auction listing for a cel of this same Poplin artwork. It sold for 2500 yen

Finished the game. I'm not sure how long it'll take me to pull this all together, but I'm planning on a separate post for each disc that will cover both the gameplay and animated segments
The player insert character sitting cross-legged on the bridge, viewed from behind. They're flustered by Yang giving orders on the big screen in front of them Yang in his white uniform falling asleep Oberstein looking over at his dog while he sits at his desk. Reinhard talking to Mittermeyer, Kircheis, the player insert character, and Reuenthal

So disc 2 is a board game that you need to beat 10 times (5 for each faction) at different ranks to get all the endings. I guess we'll see how long this takes...
Board game with some spaces filled with a blue and yellow star pattern and others an orange and green heart. A sprite of a little Empire guy is on a space next to dice. The background is the Brunhild and other ships in space Reinhard at his desk congratulating the player on a new rank. Oberstein is ominously off to the side

Finally started playing the LoGH chibi-chara game I got a few months back. It's been a little while since I did a write up about a game, so I'll plan on doing that once I finish both discs. Might be an opportunity to practice video subbing again too
Reinhard smiling and giving a toast after I won at solitaire Playing a memory match game. Jack of clubs and hearts are both on screen, with art of Reuenthal and Mittermeyer respectively Julian looking rather distraught that he lost a card game

That's so cool! I recognize the name from the credits of the LoGH LaserDisc subtitles. I'm so grateful for all of their work!

LoGH: My Conquest is the Sea of Stars - 1987-1988 Magazine Pre-Release Coverage

This is a compilation of all of the short (1-2 page) magazine snippets I have discussing the film leading up to its release

Page from Animedia. Various character from LOGH are shown with short descriptions as well as a blurb about the upcoming film Page from Newtype, featuring screenshots from the film and the key visual with Yang and Reinhard

Of course these are only the short articles, there's a lot more in my backlog (including at least two Tanaka interviews, though I still haven't decided if I want to tackle that huge one from the mook)

But I'll work on some CCA stuff first before I dive into that
kishisdoujincorner.bsky.social
I ended up combining all of the short (less than a page or two) articles about My Conquest from 1987-Feb 1988 into one long post. I didn't realize at first how much I had so it's taking a little longer than I thought, but I'll try to have that done and up on the site next week
kishisdoujincorner.bsky.social
Come to think of it, I can probably fit all of the 1987 LoGH blurbs in one post since they're almost all pretty short, so I'm thinking of focusing on those next along with a CCA article from that December (mostly for the unique art from it)

Zoids Fire Fox kit with tiny Julian figure riding on its back

Interesting... I'll see if I can find anything like that.

I've been feeling extra motivated to try and knock out a lot of magazine backlog these past few days. There's CCA stuff I need to get back to, but I also want to put a couple posts together compiling early LoGH My Conquest coverage to have that archived as well

The Animage issue the Tomino and Tanaka interview is from also came with this mini fold out poster of Reinhard and Kircheis. Here's a scan of it with the creases edited out.
