Gradius/Salamander series games? There's usually one or more stages where you need to shoot to cut a path through terrain.
And, by that token, I suppose that mechanic would go all the way back to Space Invaders, with the destructible barriers that both yours and the aliens shots can tunnel through.

I also wondered if maybe they were trying to use "commercial video game console" to mean "arcade cabinet" (under the assumption they think Pong is the first video game), but ultimately I think they're just assembling phrases from Wikipedia without fully understanding what they're writing.

Twitch recently changed/broke some things about how it pulls data from the IGDB. Twitch now prefers the "Stylized Title" field over the default "Title" field, which sometimes results in goofy-looking, unsearchable nonsense. In this case, it also surfaces a data entry issue (JP title in EN field).

Conversely, how about RayForce / Layer Section / Galactic Attack / Gunlock? It's a great scrolling shooter, but they sure did keep renaming it!

For tonight's DDR session, I decided that at my current fitness level I should focus on playing 14's and 15's. Got a handful of 990k scores, all one-and-dones.
Pure Rude AAA was a surprise, I think I played it once, months ago.
I listened to New Century in the car. Seems like it was good prep.

I guess I should resume any game progress posting over here. I started playing DDR again. I should be at SP Sun+ relatively soon.
Not sure where I'll land in Sun tiers when I derust. I just know I have a long way to go to get to SP World rank; the highest Flare EX I've managed was Plan 8 (ESP 14).
