I really like pickled Herring, and I don't do debates. Representation matters structurally, not just symbolically - different governance structures select for different competencies.

It's incomprehensible to me how anyone can eat so much motivated reasoning for breakfast that they come to believe that we are safer and economically better off as a nation with Republicans in charge.

Legacy media is quite literally out of touch

Hierarchal systems that prevent information from moving up are rapidly being replaced by network structures that allow information to flow freely.
Former ABC News correspondent and anchor, Terry Moran, and I talk about how the current press corps is not meeting the moment and how capitulation by big media companies is setting the stage for a rise in independent journalism.

Berry is no different than men in Hollywood that try to pose like feminists then harass women on set. Her "Wellness" platform is another AI-mediated, celebrity-branded wellness platform monetizing a gap created by systemic healthcare failure, not a public-good institution solving root causes.
ICYMI - Halle Berry is all out of f*cks

"Gavin Newsom, has vetoed our menopause bill, not one, but two years in a row, But that’s OK, because he’s not going to be governor forever, and the way he has overlooked women… by devaluing us, he probably should not be our next president either."

Military officers that give or execute orders to kill civilians or defenseless soldiers are cowards that bring shame to our honorable men and women of the United State's Military. The lack of oversight of Navy SOF is a national security issue that threatens our ability to defend our nation.

Trump is helping to kill off patriarchy and its modern ideology, Conservatism. The share of Americans identifying as “White alone” has been falling steadily for decades and dropped sharply around 2020.
December 4, 2025 at 2:53 PM
So, the question, once again becomes; why do people vote for Conservatives when they have repeatedly proven themselves ignorant of basic financial, economic and evolutionary science?
Real wages (after inflation) were growing at 2.0% last year. Now it’s 0.8% — “clearly playing into what the majority of American households would define as an affordability crisis.”

People that are attracted to hierarchies are going to keep looking for hierarchies. People that are attracted to belief systems are going to keep playing with belief systems. I am not looking for them. I am looking for those that are attracted to adaptive structures and knowledge.

If I am sad and lonely and need attention I say so. If I say something about finance, markets, politics or under water basket weaving - I am saying something about finance, markets, politics or under water basket weaving, not seeking attention.

I am not saying Americans suck. I am an American. I am saying that about 30% of the population is as indoctrinated by Conservative propaganda as the average Soviet apparatchik was by Communist propaganda. I am saying that our institutional structure is maladaptive and the source of our problems.

When I say that wealth taxes sound good but will not meaningfully reduce inequality, I am not supporting the wealthy. When I say that reforming/eliminating zoning regulations will do nothing to lower the cost of market rate housing, I am not supporting the real estate industry. I am stating facts.

We will never forget
Agents in Key Largo, Florida ripped this woman wearing medical scrubs out of her car as she screamed she is a US citizen. Agents cuffed her and put her in one of their cars.

She was eventually let go, per David Goodhue of the Miami Herald, who also took this footage:

There's an obvious reason for why Conservative governments all around the world are increasingly incompetent; competent people reject Conservative ideology as radically ignorant of modern knowledge and science.
The modern Conservative coalition is:

too lumpen to be technocratic

too petite bourgeois to embrace universalism

too hierarchical to adapt

too insecure to share power

too dependent on grievance to govern

It generates volatility, not stability.

It is fundamentally maladaptive.

End

Quanaha Parker agrees 100 percent with Kat Cammarck; Patriarchy doesn't belong in the Land of the Summer Moon.
Rep. Kat Cammarck: "Today, one in six people in the US is foreign born. That quite frankly is not sustainable to maintain a culture that we are known for here in the United States."

This is a great land with mostly wonderful people. What prevents the US from becoming a truly great nation is the 30% percent of Americans that don't understand the meaning of epistemic humility.

It's healthcare open enrollment and I have one thing to say; Conservatives are as indoctrinated by Libertarian propaganda as your standard issue Soviet apparatchik. My relatives in Sweden have far better healthcare (and health!), at a fraction of what I pay for really poor American healthcare.

You know what's radical and a direct threat to national security? Conservatism; and ideology in direct conflict with modern knowledge and science.
@markhertling.bsky.social: “When you're talking about striking against someone who's wounded and clinging to debris…Deliberately targeting such a person isn't a tactical decision, it's a war crime by the Geneva Convention, the laws of land warfare, and the U.N. Charter.”

Why is the BBC so difficult to manage? For the very same reason that the UK, France, Italy and the United States are difficult to manage; it's a maladaptive hierarchical command and control structure that is now in direct conflict with the network age and the resulting information environment.
NEW: Richard Hughes resigns from the OBR over budget leak.

Along with BBC leadership, a recent resurgence of people in public service jobs taking responsibility.

Something to understand about all the "Germanic" modern nation states; they are all products of pre Christian, pre Roman extralegal structures AND an overlay of Roman Patriarchal hierarchies. Hitler and Nazism was Roman Patriarchy, not Germanic egalitarianism.

Patrichy dies hard but we are well on our way to killing off maladaptive hierarchies once and for all. Trump and Trumpism isn't what many Conservatives and Liberals think it is, the return of hierarchy, but the death rattle of hierarchical structures.

Evolution selects for structural fitness.
