Reigning ideology is that anything that takes time and effort to do is on the chopping block due to automation and the only thing worth doing is automating and owning capital. So boys get habituated to thinking of things and other people in very narrow instrumental ways

Think I’ve posted this before but I know a guy in his early-mid twenties who was accepted to a highly competitive BS/MD program and then dropped out to power wash houses because online influencers told him he should avoid student debt and get on his entrepreneur grindset. Basically ruined his life

Makes me appreciate how fucked up it was that in the house I grew up in the men basically did none of this work

Cleaning the entire house, shopping, setting up tables and chafing dishes, cooking a bunch of food for the big day. I always forget how much work this is and it’s like the third time around
