I work on old cool shows/cartoons in my spare time aiming to bring them into HD land. I also sometimes stream games n'stuff over on twitch!

I was thinking of LTO-8 and maybe USB or thunderbolt 3. Ease of use is king for me. I think I could go down to LTO-6 but this is not a burning need more curiosity at this stage. Thanks for the tips. I know LTO-9 is rather temp sensitive

Yeah lovely. I need to look into LTO - used tape back in the day for network backups. See if I can pick one up and have another layer of redundancy

Glad you got a kick out of it - laserdisc era stuff is cool. Cutting edge of obsolete tech here! 😁

I do astrophotography myself - still very much not Adam Block yet but slowly learning. Love seeing data come in and then processing it all at the end in PixInsight etc
Currently doing random Oiii filter obs of random things since not many others are, no moon of course :)

I've found gains north of 5-6 copies is quite meagre simply due to the quality of the SD source.
Most copies in a stack I have done - 12 copies of a single episode S1 "Duet"
Thats a lot of raw Domesday LD data, but it was really robust in terms of the frames and the quality I felt. Better SnR

I have not forgotten - just sorting my drive out after a number of years of work. Once I get to whatever was the latest I'll holla lol

The dot crawl is present on LD for all 3 of those eps using the 2D filter which implies that it was present on the master tapes. It's curious that on DVD the dot crawl is filtered for Ep7 but it's back on Ep8. Could be the by-product of something else, shipped on a diff tape format to the DVD house?

True enough

Ahh I’ll have to fish it out - it was custom work

That’s AVISynth and I use AvsPmod to write and interact with video. Getting Laserdisc sourced stuff is trickier but may I suggest working with DVD first it’s much easier - rip a disc and look to DGIndex to give you the file to work with - good luck
