I've come to the conclusion that the Threads algorithm is like if you sort a subreddit by Controversial

I feel like my joke's are so absurdly dumb that it can't possibly be taken seriously. But I think you're right. There's a lot of normies there and I'm just some rando. Plus there are actual dumb takes on that site.

I still want to do my unhinged shitposting, but this is giving me some anxiety. but I think in the long run, it might help me build thicker skin.

but I think it's the Threads algorithm that's showing posts from a nobody like me to a bunch of people. I don't even have many followers over there. that site rewards people fighting.

I'm figuring out how to deal with this because it's new to me. mostly ignoring the haters. and muting/blocking if they are out of line.

1) I primarily post to amuse myself, 2) "bait" is a side effect of people not understanding that I'm shitposting. why would I want the "engagement" of people insulting my intelligence and being angry at me?

I'm trying to be detached about all this negative attention, but something that's getting at me is when people start to accuse me of "engagement bait."

actually I got a taste of it last year when I made a Thread shitpost where I suggested Faith No More might be the metal band that's closest to being yacht rock. it got a lot of attention and people were mad and insulting my intelligence for this fleeting thought I had on may way to see Toto lol

some of my posts where I make fun of the Beatles have gone viral. and my gosh lots of people are mad at me now. it's kinda hilarious because I'm a huge Beatles fan. but i'm not used to all of this attention.

I got a Threads account just to try it out. and kinda just crosspost between bsky and threads. and something recently changed in the past few weeks.

then during the pandemic Twitter became X and I used it for awhile until it became overrun by Nazis. I migrated to Bluesky, where you lovely people are now seeing my dumbass posts. and I'm not very popular here, so it's just my mutuals seeing my bullshit.

I got a Twitter account in 2013 to follow my favorite shitposters. and I myself got accustomed shitposting into the void. by this time a bunch of my relatives friended me on FB, so I stopped shitposting there.

I've been shitposting ever since I got a facebook account in 2006. and it was just my college friends and later local music scene friends seeing my bullshit posts. honestly, it was (and still is) mostly inside jokes to amuse myself and my twin @skidmarq.bsky.social
