Me accidentally making a case of nationalizing Steam? Hey, don’t knock it til you try it

TV died out and we replaced it with online platforms and that’s fine except for some reason everything is on 1 channel now and that channel is largely obligated to be family (read: advertiser) friendly

Compare to how TV used to work; developers here are analogous to channels, & Steam/Epic are cable providers. Imagine if there were only 2 providers total and when the cable guy came over they said “we’ll hook up the discovery channel for you, but we won’t let you buy the news (it’s too violent)”

I do actually think private companies have the right to block whatever content/creators they choose to— the problem is we’ve allowed game distribution to become pretty much completely monopolized, so if you get blocked on one or both you’re just out on the street

I don’t understand why they think this trick will work. Every single Vancouverite, regardless of age bracket, education level, knows what inflation is. We know if we had a $60 food budget last year and then stayed at a $60 food budget this year, this year we get less food. We aren’t fooled!

During the by-election the left leaning parties agreed to each run 1 candidate (there were 2 positions open and 2 parties)— so don’t worry, anti-split collaboration is very much underway!
