yeah i think this is probably the best solution (in the highly hypothetical scenario that i ever do this again). it has occurred to me before but i felt a bit silly about it, like i would be making a whole Thing out of it.

in my mind this is a wistful exploration of not knowing how to change when the world around you does. that also has a sadomasochist relationship development in the sequel. the sequel to the fic i haven't written yet. if ever.
