I watched Guillermo Del Toro's #Frankenstein with some of my friends and it was fucking incredible

(Also, light spoilers if you haven't seen the Del Toro movie or read Ito's Manga)
A comparison of the relationship between Victor and the Creature depicted in Junji Ito's and Guillermo Del Toro's adaptations of Frankenstein. In Ito's version (a manga), the Creature's hatred of Victor stems from the latter's abandonment and negligence. However, in Del Toro's adaptation (a movie), Victor is portrayed as straight up abusive towards the creature. Personally, as much as I adore Ito's version of Victor, I think Del Toro's Victor does a better job at being "the real monster". Obviously Victor is gonna be "the real monster" no matter what, but what matters is the execution. Ito's Victor is at most an ethically questionable college student who robs graves and leaves their science projects ass-naked in the streets of Ingolstadt. Del Toro's Victor examines live people at the gallows and fusses about which ones are most fit to be cadavers, and once he makes his "son" all he does is chain it up and yell at him for being a 6' tall infant. In short, Ito's Victor is a little stupid but adorable and Del Toro's Victor is a straight up cunt. My friends wouldn't stop talking about how much milk Victor drinks in the movie so it had to be done.

Happy Halloween guys!!! I took my old ass out trick-or-treating after handing out candy and I ended up getting a pretty impressive haul. Sorry for the lack of art, I've been exhausted these last few weeks...
A caricature of me dressed as Venus from the game "Psychopomp". I truly love wearing this cosplay and I'm so glad I got to make it. It feels so nice to wear :333 A cookie cake with the imagery of a crooked tree at its center. My mom is doing important stuff a couple states away, so we didn't get to 'Ween it up like we wanted. In her absence, I made some pumpkin purée and used some of it to make this pumpkin spice reese's cup cookie cake, and it's absolutely amazing. A mixture of Crystal Light juices dyed to appear purple. I call it "Nightshade Lemonade"! Something something Markiplier's sinister potion My Halloween candy! Thankfully this was all gone in two hours!

The first time I tried drawing Victor in my art style, it did NOT go well, so for a while I tried to emulate Ito's art style as best as I could to get a hold of his defining characteristics. Now I've become so comfortable with drawing him that I can give him my signature (or dreaded) nose triangle of shading my usual shape language for hair. ...Nothing's really changed. Frankenstein watching over the ocean on Captain Walton's ship. His left eye is bugging the absolute shit out of me but I'm too lazy to go fix it so shhhh ignore it. I like everything else about this though A messy doodle of Victor sitting in the shack after being confronted by the Creature. I just wanted to try out drawing his side profile in my style, so not much attention was put on his body. As much as I loved the artwork in the manga, there were times where I felt that the facial expressions weren't intense enough for what was happening. Of course, this is amateur American cartoon artist me talking, but I tried it anyway. I think I could have done better... don't really know what to do with the mouth...

I kept the bike straps because I wanted it to still technically be able to be used as a bike helmet The felt hair is hanging up to dry because I tried to wash it, but hot gluing all the felt stuff on is the last step I need to take to finish the costume.
