Reading Kingsnorth’s “Against The Machine” and it hasn’t annoyed me as much as i thought it would… yet. Some ok points but a lot of “old man yells at cloud” energy.

I kinda admire this person for leaving this post up for a whole day lmao.
Watching the funeral of VP Dick Cheney and listening to his daughter, Congresswoman Liz Cheney, speak. One can only hope that this GOP will find its democratic compass again and reject all things fascist. I didn’t always agree with VP Cheney BUT he was antifa. He always put country over party.RIP🙏

I kind of wish that baseball players didn't make a lot of money so that they could have normal jobs like everyone else. Imagine Mookie Betts cussing at the printer the Monday after winning the World Series. They'd be kinda popular around the office, but they'd still have deadlines.

Then I read something like this and get frustrated again, but I am forced to remind myself that while the article does address a real problem, it fails to capture the scope and complexity of Orthodoxy as a whole. I'm skeptical of the permanence of this phenomenon. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/19/u...

As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

Last night’s election was big for housing ⬇️

—NIMBY NJ Gubernatorial candidate lost decisively.
—Mamdani, promising to pause rent increases & develop 200k affordable units, won NYC decisively.
—All pro-housing referendums in NYC passed.
—Housing funding measures passed in Columbus & Denver.

I love physical books but I’ve finally caved and am just reading ebooks on the iPad now. It’s actually super helpful when you are a completely idiot like me to be able to highlight and “look up” a word you don’t know.

New, by me, on why the City of Atlanta should not extend its TAD (TIF) districts and how it will hurt, not help, low-income Atlantans.

(Bracing for a new round of ad hominem attacks from Mayor Dickens or his staff/lobbyists, but I am traveling so may not see it.)

🧵1/N
Extending gentrifying Atlanta’s tax districts for 25 years makes little sense
Atlanta's Tax Allocation Districts (TADs) have run their course and we should find more novel ways to spur prosperity, build housing and assist low-income residents.

it is kinda fun that everyone is talking about the hatch act as if they knew what it was before like 2 weeks ago.

I know other people have pointed this out but I remember not being allowed to use Wikipedia for research in school because there was a chance it wasn't legit, but now its probably one of the more accurate sources of information available lmao.
