I'll continue to shoot (and probably screw up) more of these dry plates, but at least it's cheaper than color 4x5 film 😅

Making some progress on these gold tin types. It’s quite a bit different from the glass dry plates.

I’m a sucker for the way the deserts look on LomoChrome Purple

Looking north from South Mountain during the recent monsoon. Shot on Pentax 6x7

I struggle finding ways to share these panoramic negatives, but they sure do look good, don’t they?

Taken at South Mountain looking north across most of the city of Phoenix. The monsoons were pretty active that day.

Shot on Fuji G617 on Kodak Ektar.

It’s definitely tempting me to use a non-standard color to replace some of the rotting leatherette on some of my cameras

What’s the story with the teal leatherette? Super cool

Sometimes the shots you take to finish a roll actually end up being pretty good.

Known as the 'Grand Canyon of the Pacific', Waimea Canyon is one of the most unique ecosystems in the Pacific.

This photograph was made on a 1950's Speed Graphic 4x5 camera on expired Kodak Portra film.

Fingers crossed that this is the best $5 roll of film I’ve ever purchased

No worries - photography has become so “gear” focused that it’s hard to tell who thinks you “need” the camera versus those of us that just have addictions to buying cameras 😅
kyle.conwaydarkroom.com
100% agree that there are other cameras with similar levels of repairability to many Leica’s for a fraction of the cost. In fact, I’d recommend other cameras to many film photographers before a Leica bc of the cost

In my mind, the choice in this scenario was a $2800 Leica or a $2800 Sony Mirrorless
kyle.conwaydarkroom.com
Maybe I'm an outlier - but I'd sooner spend $2,800 on a camera that has a chance to be repaired as opposed to something fully electronic that just "breaks" at some point down the line.

At least that Leica is less likely to be an expensive paperweight in 15 years.
kyle.conwaydarkroom.com
Yeah - Kodak has spun off so many times that I'm not sure I even know what the implications of this would be.

I'm more concerned with the continued availability of film & chemicals than I am the branding of the company selling it, I guess.

"Old Point Loma Lighthouse," photographed by Conway Darkroom

#photography #fotografia #PhotographersUnited #artistsofbluesky #art #supportartists

The original Point Loma lighthouse was one of 6 lighthouses constructed by the US Govt. when California was admitted to the Union.

Construction was completed in 1855 on, when operating, what was the highest elevation lighthouse in the United States. On foggy nights the lighthouse keeper would sometimes discharge a shotgun to warn ships away.

On March 23, 1891, the flame was permanently extinguished and the light was replaced by the New Point Loma lighthouse at a lower elevation.

A few more panoramic shots from the Fuji. These are on @ilfordphoto.com’s Delta film. Delta 100 @ 400 & 3200 @ 800.

All handheld, which you can imagine got me more than a few glances on the street lol.

I always like trying new films, and I was fortunate enough to snag a few rolls of some Agfa Aviphot 200 NIR film from The Celluloid Collective. Check them out for cool (often expired) films.

I really like the way these photos from Point Loma turned out. The 6x7 never disappoints.
