In that vein, I also want to mention another personal highlight: My visit to Madison, Wisconsin, last month, thanks to my amazing host, Jason Peters!

Light-sheet imaging of biofilms at the air-liquid interface. Check out the distinct cell layers and bacteria zipping around like comets in the liquid 💫. Honored to be part of this amazing study by @rtomer.bsky.social’s lab, Hannah Dayton and collaborators. Now published at rdcu.be/dTyun

Lactate is an important substrate 🍔 for P. aeruginosa in infection sites. We now show that PA’s “redundant” lactate dehydrogenases are actually used by different biofilm subpopulations and contribute to survival within macrophages 🦠 Great work by Lindsey Florek & collabs. doi.org/10.1128/mbio...

What goes on in a natural producer of cyanide 💀? Here we study how Pseudomonas aeruginosa regulates its terminal oxidases in response to this respiratory poison. Marina Smiley and Doran Sekaran bravely tackled this mystery #sleuths 🔍 #microsky journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/...

Toxin or substrate? That depends on where you are in the biofilm. Check out our latest paper on cross-regulation between P. aeruginosa subpopulations! Great work by Chris Evans, Marina Smiley, and collaborators. doi.org/10.1073/pnas...
