wielding one of the most powerful tools of the office without being able to justify its use and claiming no knowledge of the target should trigger impeachment proceedings.
Awful: Trump just admitted in a new interview that he knows "very little" about the Honduran ex-president he pardoned. This guy trafficked a gazillion times more drugs into the US than anyone Trump has executed. Wrecks his case for the boat bombings.

I’ve been notified of two more deaths in ICE custody in the last 24 hours — meaning that 25 people have now died in detention since Trump returned to office.

That’s the most in more than two decades. The cruelty and inhumanity of this administration must end.

First, the strike was so good and legal they immediately shared video.

Then, Hegseth wasn’t there/didn’t know about survivors.

Then, “sure we’ll release the second video.”

Now, no, we won’t release the video but the strike was totally fine. Also it was up to “them.”
POLITICO: Do you believe the second strike was necessary?

TRUMP: Uhhhh. Well it looked like they were trying to turn back over the boat. But I don't get involved in that. That's up to them.

A medically fragile baby left temporarily abandoned in the NICU, her mother abducted by ICE. Moms all over the country afraid to visit their hospitalized newborns for fear of being disappeared.

All because of a president who claims to be “pro-life”.

“So having a president come in and fire all the scientists, and the doctors, and the economists and the PhDs, and replacing them with loyalists and people who don’t know anything is actually not in the best interest of the citizens of the United States.”

New, from me: by embracing unitary executive theory, the Supreme Court is moving towards making all public employees fireable at the will of the President.

This will not just hurt government competence, it will aid democratic backsliding. 🧵

it is actually kind of bananas how unitary executive theorists have taken a straightforward clause requiring the president to "faithfully execute the laws" and transformed it into a grant for the exercise of limitless unenumerated power.
The Take Care Clause was a byproduct of the lessons learned from the Glorious Revolution that the executive should not be able to dispense with the law promulgated by the legislature. It was not a constitutional provision to empower the executive branch— but to constrain it!

The same is true for the certitude that "the executive power" must include a power to remove agency leaders. The FedSoc faithful treat this as self-evident, and when legitimate historians show that it is emphatically not, they just swat away the evidence as weak or irrelevant. Cult-like behavior!
