Law librarian by day. Into the high and the low (Austen, books, music, fashion, the arts & sciences, animals, nature, memes, puns, trivia). Fallible human being. Trying to be good, do good, and do better, for however long I get to be here.

Expressing moral outrage at people who are suffering other people’s decision to vote for this hell, is obtuse. You can’t expect them to not be angry & have empathy for those who chose this. Their very vote displayed an appalling lack of care and empathy. They just thought it wouldn’t happen to them.
“FAFO” (an abbreviation for, “F—- around, find out”) may be a popular way for some folks on social media to answer the suffering of people whom they perceive to be their political opposites, but it’s poison to the journalist’s soul," Ashton Pittman writes.

When Americans raised concerns about RFK Jr.'s anti-vaccine views, he said he was "not gonna take away vaccines from anybody."

But now he's taking them away from millions of mommas and babies.

Vaccine recommendations should be based on science, not RFK Jr.'s political agenda.

We talked to 12 independent voters who support Trump about whether Taylor Swift is still hot and Bruce Springsteen's skin is too dry and "86" means "kill" or just "get rid of" and how important the issue of Joe Biden's mental acuity will be in 2028. Patty, a dermabrasion specialist from Tulsa, says

What if for every 50 articles that say Dems should take the concerns of GOP and centrist voters seriously, there were 1 article that said GOP should take the concerns of Dems and centrists seriously. Like not calling them un-American and enemies, and protecting abortion rights and Medicaid.
For the most part, leading Democrats are ducking what is fast becoming the first real litmus test of the 2028 campaign: former President Biden's mental acuity.
Dems confront the first real litmus test of 2028: Biden's mental acuity
Some Democrats argue their leaders aren’t owning up to the truth about Biden — and risk keeping the issue alive indefinitely.

Nick Grossman supplies the analysis which is bizarrely absent from NYT's article on Musk's makeover of Twitter.
In stupid but easy to see coming internet irony news: the people who made up that they were victims of shadowbanning in a conspiracy to silence their speech, so they had to take over Twitter to eliminate the victimization they imagined, have instituted shadowbanning of speech they don’t like.
They Criticized Musk on X. Then Their Reach Collapsed.

the thing about waiting for the perfect victim is that fascists simply lie all the time. they will smear anyone. it's what they do.
The moral and legal case for Abrego Garcia is very strong—govt blatantly violated his rights without due process—but also, the claim that he’s a “bad” victim to highlight doesn’t match reality. Van Hollen visit, Joe Rogan mention, NYT homepage, and more. It’s a sympathetic human interest story now.

"So-and-So just did ____, why can't YOU do that???" is a pretty good attack in these cases!

2) the next FDR is an outspoken politician known by their initials (AOC)
3) the next FDR is the VP of a failed presidential ticket (Walz)
4) the next FDR is an outspoken politician with a dutch last name (Van Hollen)

BREAKING: Trump has paused tariffs for 90 days. Who could have seen this coming two days ago on Bluesky?
The best case scenario is that this is a stock shorting scheme, and in a week, there will be masterful (non-existent) "dealmaking" that removes the tariffs after the billionaires buy the dip causing a massive transfer of wealth.

That's the *best* case scenario.
