It is also true of journalism that your success is too often dictated not by your talent but by your means. You may have questionable ethics and a limited ability to write, but if you or your family have enough money and you know the right people, there are no limits or boundaries for you.

If a doctor engaged in medical malpractice or a stock broker insider trading, we would rightly argue that they should find other profession. In journalism, all we ask is that someone who has thoroughly disgraced themselves go away long enough so that they might make a comeback.
