We’re thrilled to welcome Cllr Tina Valcarcel to the Liberal Democrat group! 🧡

After nearly 20 years as a Labour councillor, Tina says Labour has moved away from her values — and she’s found her home with the Lib Dems.

Welcome, Tina! ✨

The Liberal Democrats have just hit 50 council by-election wins since May 1st 2025 Local Elections,
winning more than the Conservatives, Labour, and the Green Party combined!

The momentum is with the Lib Dems.

David Lammy was right in 2020 when he called the jury system fundamental to our constitution.

Now the government wants to remove juries from all but the most serious cases. It is dangerous and wrong and the Prime Minister must reverse it.

Imagine being turned away from a bathroom, hospital, or cinema for “not looking female enough”. The leaked EHRC guidance could do just that. Along with my Lib Dem colleagues, I’ve written to the Minister calling for new, inclusive, practical guidance that protects everyone’s rights.

Instead of hammering the country with taxes, the chancellor should be tackling the cost of living and helping businesses grow by cutting red tape.

The biggest path to growth is repairing our relationship with Europe.

Last summer Susan Murray won back the seat of Mid Dunbartonshire with a majority of nearly 10,000 over the SNP.

In May, voters in the equivalent seat of Strathkelvin and Bearsden will have a choice, a hardworking local champion in Adam Harley or more of the same with the SNP.

The war will end when Russia stops fighting. Therefore, pressure has to be put on Russia, so that they stop believing that they will win. Why is that so hard to understand?

Nigel Farage has spent £1m taking out adverts in the papers to distract from the Nathan Gill Russian bribe scandal.

We can't let him buy himself out of this. We need an investigation into Russian influence in our politics.

Glad to see the Carer’s Allowance overpayments report published after raising it last week. The Government has accepted most recommendations, including reassessing cases and refunding carers who were hit by years of unclear DWP guidance. Long overdue.

Brexit has cost each and every one of us £3,700 a year.

But instead of solving the problem, Labour are using Brexit as an excuse to raise your taxes.

My message ahead of the Budget: Stop blaming Brexit and start fixing it!

This is now the 3rd large scale waste dump which is the result of serious and organised waste crime to be uncovered since the HoL Climate Change & Environment Committee Report was published just one month ago. The EA agues they only previously knew of 6 sites in the UK of this size.

I'm so pleased that the two-child benefit cap has been scrapped, something the Lib Dems have long campaigned for.

However, the Chancellor missed a huge opportunity to reverse the £90bn a year cost of the Tories botched Brexit deal and announce a new UK-EU Customs Union.

The Chancellor's chosen to copy the Conservatives with a stealth tax.

You can't tax your way to growth.

NEW: Net migration to the UK fell significantly to 204,000 in the year to June.

That’s down from 649,000 in the year to June 2024 - a fall of around two-thirds.

This Government has chosen to reject the single biggest thing it could do to turbocharge economic growth and repair the £90 billion Brexit black hole.

For millions of people struggling with higher bills this was a botched budget.

Today the Government had the opportunity to end the cost of living crisis, get Britain growing again and repair the £90bn Brexit black hole - by fixing our trade with Europe.

It didn't.

Brexit is the reason today’s Budget squeezes families, yet the government is still shuffling towards solutions that demand real urgency. We need far bolder steps back towards the single market if we want future budgets that lift people up rather than drain them.
Baby steps won’t fix Brexit or the Budget
There is a way to get back a much bigger slice of the money Brexit has cost us. By getting the UK back into the EU single market.

I’m disappointed by today's Autumn Budget announcement. The government have ignored the biggest lever for economic growth: creating a better trade deal with Europe

We must fix our relationship with Europe to fix Britain.
