Apart from licensed shows, fireworks are illegal in Portland. But people can just go across the river to Vancouver and get all the illegal fireworks they want. Bad enough on the 4th, but they were popping off all day and night on the 5th, and probably will be heard today as well. Neato!

Just received a gross email from the Social Security administration “applauding“ the passage of the “big beautiful Bill” & how “great” it will be for seniors. Dude, read the room. Many are not “applauding.” Sent a feedback form about it, but doubt that anyone at the Trumpy SSA will give a shit.

I can tell the BBBad thing just happened because I’ve received a fresh cascade of frantic messages from Dem politicians begging for money. Too soon, guys. If nothing any of us did or said helped stop this, what good is donating money to you now gonna do? Cuz I sure don’t see it.

In the past eight hours, I’ve gotten 19 texts (and counting) from different Democratic politicians frantically begging for money. Someone - Act Blue? - clearly sold my phone number to every Dem politician in the United States. I do not appreciate it. Life is stressful enough. Geez.

I vote for people I believe in to represent me, and I pay my taxes. Why do I have to keep “chipping in”?
The system is beyond broken. Most working and retired Americans struggle to afford necessities. We shouldn’t have to hold the equivalent of bake sales to keep our party afloat.

This small delicate spider built her web under a cabinet next to the sink. I’m very careful not to damage the web - in fact now I regularly funnel sugar ants into it. We get along just fine. Bon Apetit, Susan the Spider.
