I resisted trying an e-bike for a thousand years, and then I couldn’t believe how much fun they were. Gone is my “I should get in shape and stay in shape for these hills” bicyclist attitude. Instead, I ask myself whether I want to take the bike to the farmer’s market 3 miles away and say yes.

When a little girl is killed, the question should not be, "Well, did the driver intend to hit her?" The question should be, "Why have we created a system where this kind of death regularly occurs?"

Imagine building a whole bike path but forgetting to put a ramp at the end of it.

I ride a bike for transportation in urban environments and I'm tired of motorists trying to take my life from me simply for existing outside of a multi-ton vehicle.

I'm selling a mis-matched set of thru-axle wheels, perfect for gravel or cyclocross. If you're interested, shoot me a DM.

I just heard @sgoodyear.bsky.social's summary of The Romance of the Automobile Industry (1916)

It's an important @thewaroncars.bsky.social story at the start of our century of car culture. It's creepy to hear more than a whiff from 100 years ago of bro-culture, of people who know what's best for us
We've got a new Patreon bonus episode out, about a weird old book called "The Romance of the Automobile Industry." Published in 1916, it's propaganda for car dependence, primarily to increase wealth and bolster the elite. Support us on Patreon for access! thewaroncars.org/2025/01/28/t...

In cars, children are spectators to the world. On a bicycle, they are players within it.
There is a comfy seat on the back of the bike but I guess the view is better from the basket

All the attacks on books hurt, but this one hurts especially bad. Last Night at the Telegraph Club was one of the first books I saw myself represented in, and it changed my perspective about myself and about what literature could be.
No, because that's a lie. And it's not actually funny. I know these right wing zealots seem laughable, but they are serious and the things they're doing are serious.

Public spaces are like hair products.

When you force mixing peds/bikes and cars you get the same effect as 2 in 1 shampoo & conditioner: it just never works as good as when they are separated.

This street will be dropping from 25mph to 20mph this spring. I'm hoping to see early enforcement and the creation of a safer area for those traveling by foot and by bike.

It's a conscious decision to choose to go by bike. I choose to for the planet and my wallet, but mostly because I always feel better when I ride.

What's your favorite cargo to move via bike? I sometimes get to help move seedling trays across town for my wife's job and I love the attention it draws from passerby.

I encourage you to check out cargobikelife.com not just if you are a cargo bike owner or are cargo bike interested, but also if you're simply a bikes-for-transportation person.

Over time, we hope to shift the community to be all things bikes-as-transportation related, not just cargo bikes.
