This feels like the defining characteristic of this generation and it really sucks
It's amazing how so many billionaires - who have WAY more money than they could possibly need in 500 lifetimes - REALLY want to avoid paying small slivers of tax money to benefit a common good like social safety services for less fortunate countrymen within the society that made them billionaires.

If you don’t already know Smol Paul, you should get to know Smol Paul
5 years ago today, Pandemic Year. It had been a month since I opened my "side project" (lol) cat rescue in the spare room of my flat in London.

I saw an ad for a male kitten with "balance & walking problems" who urgently needed a home. And so it began. HAPPY SMOL PAUL DAY!

Same for me, here in Canada
I refuse to shop anywhere in this country while they’re having “Black Friday” deals because absolutely the fuck not; we do not HAVE Thanksgiving, black friday is therefore unnatural and an abomination before the Lord and I will shop on Boxing Day like our ancestors intended

Ban. AI. Now.
OpenAI says they aren't liable for the suicide of a user their chat bot urged to kill himself because suicide is a violation of the TOS
Additionally, OpenAI argues its not liable because Raine, by using ChatGPT for self-harm, broke its terms of service

“After that extra-contaminated water leaves Amazon’s data center, it then gets dumped and sprayed across local farmland in Oregon.”

Eewwww
Everyone knows data centers use a ton of water.

What hardly anyone knows: they can poison the water that remains.

And in eastern Oregon, Amazon is doing exactly that.

90% of deep fake images online are non-consensual pornographic images of women and girls.

And yet, these images are not yet illegal in Canada.
Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. This year's theme is digital abuse.

Fewer than 40% of countries have laws protecting women from cyber harassment or cyber stalking. This leaves 44% of the world’s women and girls without access to legal protection.

Some Canadians need this reminder too
Friend of mine fell and broke his wrist while on holiday in New York last week. Had to have an x-ray and got bandaged up. His hospital bill was £7550. Just in case anyone was starting to buy into the current UK effort to privatise our healthcare and forgot how good we have it.

I'm going insane because people constantly recommend using AI for things and it is always, ALWAYS worse than repeatedly bashing my head on a brick.

It's like you have an actual problem & all anyone recommends is "have you tried talking to my cousin? He drinks bleach & doesn't wash his pants"

“Blast someone for being fascist without insulting their weight” 👏👏👏
Really makes me angry when y’all resort to moralising with ppl who we have very justified reasons to condemn. blast someone for being fascist without insulting their weight. You can call someone a Nazi without judging them for having kids by multiple parents. Bigotry is unrelated to addiction.
